1837 -- Louis Daguerre photographie le Pont Neuf et la statue d’Henri IV.

1837 -- Louis Daguerre took a photograph of the Pont Neuf and the Statue of Henri the fourth in Paris

Entouré en rouge, vous pouvez apercevoir deux personnes assises près de la statue, ce sont les deux premiers humains photographiés.

Circled in red, you can see two people sat by the fence of the statue. They are the first human being to be photographed.

Avril 1838 -- Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre, ancien associé de Nicéphore Niépce, photographie du Boulevard du Temple depuis son appartement. Se situe à cet endroit de nos jours la caserne de la République.

April 1838 -- Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre, former partner of Nicéphore Nièpce, take a photograph of the Boulevard du Temple in Paris from his appartment window. It is now the barracks of the Republique.

François Arago, scientifique et homme politique (1786-1853), défend l’invention de la photographie devant l’Académie des Sciences : elle est reconnue officiellement le 7 janvier 1839. Le gouvernement français fait ensuite l’acquisition de la découverte de Niépce et Daguerre.

François Arago, scientist and politician (1786-1853), defended the invention of photography before the Academy of Sciences: it was officially recognized on January 7th 1839. The French government then acquired the discovery of Niépce and Daguerre.
